What is Virgin Human Hair?
Virgin Hair is human hair that has never been altered by chemicals. Virgin hair has never been permed, colored or relaxed. It is pure hair in it's most natural state. As it has never been chemically altered or damaged in anyway it has cuticles still in tact and it is structurally healthy.
What is "Fallen Hair"?
Fallen hair is hair that falls during the production of High Quality wigs and hair extension pieces. This scrap hair is gathered and thrown into an acid wash which detangles the hair. The acid wash also renders the hair virtually useless- with the texture of fine straw or dried grass. The scrap hair is then wefted (sewn togther) and then immersed in a cheap silicone solution for about one week. After this treatment, the hair has the appearance of Healthy Human hair. It is sleek and soft and shiny.
After a few washes the silicone solution wears off and you are left with a head full of fallen, acid treated hair.
What is BSS Hair?
BSS Hair is hair found at the beauty supply store. It is fallen hair. Some BSS hair is mixed with synthetic and animal hair before it is soaked in a silicone treatment. The more expensive "remi" hair is mostly human fallen hair with less ratio of animal hair. The more expensive "Remi" hair is soaked in a higher grade of silicone that wears off more slowly that the less expensive non-remi hair. But, the silicone will still wear off eventually revealing fallen scrap hair.
What about the Virgin Indian Hair being sold at the BSS?
Indian women do not have bone straight hair, or a perfect and symmetrical wave or curl pattern. True virgin hair does not have with absolutely no split ends or color variation or short strands. Such occurances are not common in nature, if at all possible. A lot of hair vendors are counting on the ignorance of consumers to sell their product. Please note: real Virgin human hair is perfect only with all it's imperfections.
How long do Virgin Indian Hair Extensions last?
Virgin hair extensions last up to a year with proper care. The operative words being "with proper care." Your Virgin Indian Hair extensions are first and foremost, 100% Human Hair. You must treat your hair extensions with care, avoiding heat and harsh products. If you do this, your extensions will last a long time. If you mistreat your extensions, you can cause heat or chemical damage as you would your own hair
Can the hair be colored?
Yes, you can dye your Virgin Indian hair as you would your own. It is recommended that your Virgin Hair Extensions be colored by your professional stylist, or that you follow Hair dye product recommendations suggested by said stylist.
Why do you have a whole entire site dedicated to hair extensions care?
The website that is found on the "Extensions care" tab is a comprehensive care site. It teaches consumers and clients how to care for both their hair extensions as well as their real hair. The sad truth is that if we all knew how to properly take care of our real hair, we would not need hair extensions ;).
Licensed Cosmetologist Joanna Gardner & Founder of Indilocks.com, cares about educating her clients on proper hair care so that hair extensions can be used as a tool for growing and maintaining their real hair, rather than becoming dependant upon these extensions.
